Naturopathic Medical Services
Depending on your health goals, we will decide together which treatment combination is best suited for you. The following modalities and services are available:
‘Let thy food, be thy medicine’ - Hippocrates.
Let’s make sure what we’re eating is contributing to good health, rather than hindering it. When we provide quality, nutritious food to our bodies, we can see significant improvements to our health. In addition to food in its whole form, additional nutritional supplementation falls into this realm. Depending on established health goals, you and Dr. Alison will work towards the ideal nutritional plan best suited for you.Cli
Herbal & Botanical Medicine
Botanical medicine, also referred to as herbal medicine, can benefit concerns ranging from hormonal imbalances, to improving cognitive functioning, to general wellness. Commonly taken orally - either via capsules, sipped as a tea, or a few drops in a liquid tincture. Depending on what you’re presenting with, botanical medicine may be a good addition.
Whether it is sleep modification, time management of daily routines and meal prep, or the incorporation of mindfulness practices - an aspect of lifestyle counselling is apart of all treatment plans. These simple modifications have the potential to improve sleep, increase energy and reduce burn-out, and greatly improve mood.
Laboratory Testing - Blood work & Hormones
Food sensitivity testing, hormone panels including male and female hormones, cortisol and thyroid panels, as well as standard blood work, are available. Depending on what your health goals are, you and Dr. Alison can determine if and which testing may be appropriate.
Acupuncture & Traditional Chinese Medicine
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) acupuncture is based on the energetic meridians of the body, and how these relate to various health concerns.
Common conditions in which acupuncture can be of great benefit include mental / emotional concerns such as anxiety, sleep regulation or insomnia, hormonal imbalances including menstrual regulation, and digestive concerns, which may also be in addition to a weight-loss regime, to name a few.
Acupuncture is also used as part of muscle or tendon injury protocols with athletes, and commonly used for pain management in all age groups, for conditions such as arthritis or joint pain.
Hydrotherapy, cupping therapies, exercise incorporation / modification, as well as acupuncture, are all considered in the realm of physical therapies. Pain management and improvements with circulation, boosting our immune systems, as well as improving digestive disturbances, are some of the main benefits to physical therapies.
